Baytril Injectable 5% is a synthetic antibacterial, different from the families of common antibiotics. This has repercussions in that it does not present cross resistance with other antibiotics, destroying even multiresistant bacteria.

Baytril Injectable 5% is absorbed and distributed rapidly in the body (1-2 hours), which allows it to maintain high therapeutic concentrations for 24 hours and has high efficiency, both in localized infections in organs (including bone), and in systemic infections (even in the cerebrospinal fluid). Presentation

Bottles of 20 ml, 50 ml and 250 ml.

Route of Administration

Baytril Injectable 5% can be administered intramuscularly, subcutaneously or intravenously.

Dose

Ruminants and pigs: 2.5 mg / kg of p.c., which is equivalent to 1 ml of Baytril Injectable 5% per 20 kg of weight.

Dogs and cats: 5 mg / kg of p.c., which is equivalent to 1 ml of Baytril Injectable 5% for every 10 kg of weight

Birds: 10 mg / kg of p.c., or equivalent to 1 ml of Baytril Injectable 5% per 5 kg of weight.

Dosage can be increased at the discretion of the doctor without risk to the animals, being able to double the dose in a shock therapy in cases of seriousness. The optimal application interval is every 24 hours and it is recommended to apply 3 days; In the case of intracellular germs (Salmonella spp) 5 days of treatment are recommended.

Indications

Because of its broad spectrum of action, as well as its pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics, Baytril Injectable 5% is indicated for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases caused by gram-positive, gram-negative and mycoplasma germs, either mixed or simple, such as:

Respiratory infections.

Infections of the urinary system.

Intestinal infections

Infections of the genital tract.

Infections of wounds.

Cutaneous infections

Puerperal infections.

Septicemic infections.

Baytril Injectable 5% is indicated in pigs for:

• Respiratory system infections caused by:
  
• Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (fibrinous pleuropneumonia), Mycoplasma spp. (Enzootic pneumonia, atrophic rhinitis), Pasteurella multocida (pneumonic complex, atrophic rhinitis), Bordetella spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp. and Cornebacterium spp.
• Infections of the digestive system by:
• Escherichia coli (colibacillosis, edema disease, colisepticemia), Salmonella spp. (enteric and septicemic salmonellosis).
• Infections of the genitourinary system such as:
• Kidney infections
• Septicemic infections by:
• E. coli, Salmonella spp., Erysipelothryx rhusiophatiae, Staphylococcus spp.
• Skin infections by:
• Staphylococcus hycus (wet eczema), Streptococcus spp. and Pseudomonas spp.
• Purulent infections (Gabarro, abscesses) caused by:
• Fusobacterium necrophorum, E. coli, Pseudomonas spp., Bacteroides melaninogenicus, Proteus spp., Staphylococcus aureus.
• In the case of cattle and dogs see the chapters of Baytril Injectable 10% and Baytril tablets respectively.

Warning

Do not administer in pigs volumes greater than 2.5 ml in the same application site and in calves no more than 5 ml.

Do not administer to dogs under one year of age or subcutaneously.

Additional information

Due to its action spectrum and its high potency, Baytril Injectable 5% does not need to be combined with other antibiotics.

However, it is convenient to know that in combinations with other bactericides, no antagonism occurs and in most cases leads to synergism.
